Hamburg 2024: EU test sites forge alliance

At WindEnergy Hamburg, five European offshore wind test sites have formed an alliance called HiPoTeSis. They aim to improve conditions for floating wind demonstration projects and provide high-power infrastructure for testing new floating wind projects. The alliance includes BiMEP, Companhia de Energia Oceanica (CEO), Fondation OPEN-C, METCentre, and Plataforma Oceanica de Canarias (PLOCAN). The test sites presented action points at a seminar, focusing on fast-track permitting system, EU support schemes, and infrastructure development. Stakeholders emphasized the need for standardization and industrialization of floating technologies and called for increased funding for test sites in Europe.
