Solar momentum is building in Hungary with over 4.5 GW of cumulative installed PV capacity. The growth is driven by favorable net metering schemes, low electricity prices, and a surge in installations. Utility-scale PV plants are predominant in the over 50 kW market segment. However, grid congestion poses a threat to large-scale solar rollout in the country. Recent policy shifts have impacted the sub-50 kW rooftop PV market, leading to a collapse in sales. Despite challenges, there is optimism for the solar industry in Hungary.
