Hungary's subsidy scheme for energy storage is expected to drive significant growth in battery energy storage system (BESS) deployments. The scheme provides opex and capex support, leading to a 3,400% increase in BESS capacity over the next few years. The programme, approved by the EU, is part-funded by the bloc's Recovery and Resilience Facility and the Modernisation Fund. The country also has a growing solar power capacity and increasing electricity demand due to expanding industries like EV manufacturing.
