Ireland allocates almost 960 MW of solar in fourth renewables auction

The results of the fourth Renewable Electricity Support Scheme auction (RESS 4) in Ireland show that 23 solar farms will be awarded contracts, delivering a total of 959.85 MW in electricity capacity. Solar projects received a large allocation compared to onshore wind projects, with a notable increase from the previous auction, RESS 3. The average price for the auction decreased by 4%. The CEO of the Irish Solar Energy Association highlights the need for further cost reductions and discusses the importance of renewable capacity in combating climate change.
