Irish Energy Department takes control of marine planning

Responsibility for Irish marine planning has transferred to Energy Department DECC, paving the way for accelerated work on offshore wind lease areas. DECC intends to provide resources to support immediate changes and accelerate activity. A new multi-disciplinary team will be established to bring forward future lease areas known as DMAPs and to accelerate other critical components of the marine planning system. Energy Minister Eamon Ryan aims to create a modern marine planning system that delivers for all stakeholders and supports sustainable uses of Ireland's seas.
