Irish wind fleet 'delivered stellar April'

In April 2024, wind power generation in Ireland was significantly high, with the total electricity generated from wind reaching 1076GWh. The region of Kerry led the production, followed by Cork and Tipperary. Wind power constituted 32% of Ireland's total electricity for the month. The report highlights a decrease in wholesale prices and emphasizes the need for enhanced grid infrastructure and modernization of the planning system to further boost wind energy output and decarbonize the energy system. The significant potential of offshore wind has been recognized with the introduction of Ireland's first Designated Maritime Area Plan.
