Lightshift selected to build 50 MW of BESS across Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC) has partnered with Lightshift Energy to deploy 50 MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across its utilities. These systems, serving nearly 200,000 customers, are set to be built, owned, and operated by Lightshift Energy and are expected to be operational between 2024 and 2025. The projects have attracted significant investment from Greenbacker Capital Management, a key financier in the initiative.
