US government nuclear sites going solar

The US Department of Energy (DOE) announced NextEra's negotiations to lease property at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in New Mexico for a solar power and energy storage facility. Similar negotiations were also made with Hecate Energy for the Hanford Site in Washington. Both sites have nuclear facilities and emphasize the Cleanup to Clean Energy initiative.
