Low-cost machine learning framework for snail trail detection in PV panels

A research group led by France's University of Toulouse has developed a novel detection method for snail trails in solar modules. The method utilizes ensemble learning framework ELDIAG to analyze PV panel's time-frequency characteristics and statistics. The system employs two competing dimensionality reduction techniques, PCA and Isomap, to reduce input variables, followed by an ensemble of three deep learning methods for fault detection.
