Lower demand, falling gas prices drive European electricity prices down

Weekly electricity prices in major European markets dropped last week. Prices fell in Belgian, British, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Nordic, Portuguese, and Spanish markets. Reasons for the decline include decreased gas and CO2 emission allowance prices, lower electricity demand, and increased solar and wind energy production. Notable records were broken in daily solar production in France, Italy, and Spain. Solar energy production is predicted to fluctuate across various markets in the coming weeks.
