More than half of California solar customers to include battery storage

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported an increase in battery adoption rates among solar customers in California, mainly driven by the transition to Net Energy Metering 3.0. This regulatory change emphasized storing and dispatching solar-generated electricity when needed the most, resulting in a significant rise in battery attachment rates. Despite the boost in battery installations, the rulemaking decision was met with disapproval from solar advocates due to the overall rise in installation costs and increased breakeven period for solar investments.
