The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) of the Philippines has issued certificates of compliance for 116.3 MW of total capacity to qualified end users under its net-metering program. The success of the scheme depends on information and education campaigns and strategic partnerships with regional governments. From 2015 to 2023, the number of qualified end users grew consistently, experiencing a significant surge in 2023. The Luzon grid has the highest rated capacity, followed by the Visayas grid and the Mindanao grid. The Philippines increased its net-metering size limit to 1 MW in November 2022. In Qianjiang, Hubei Province, the Datang Group's sodium-ion energy storage project went into operation with a 100 MW/200 MWh capacity.
