Philippines announces renewables, energy storage auction

The Department of Energy (DOE) of the Philippines is set to hold a storage-focused green energy auction, GEA-4, in the fourth quarter of 2024, covering Integrated Renewable Energy and Energy Storage Systems (IRESS). IRESS integrates energy storage technologies with renewable energy to store excess energy during peak periods for later use. The DOE is finalizing the auction design and considering the potential of LNG. The Philippines is increasing its renewable energy deployment efforts with upcoming auctions focusing on different technologies.
