The Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infraestruturas do Alqueva (EDIA), under the Ministry of Agriculture of Portugal, has initiated an international tender for constructing five floating photovoltaic plants in reservoirs in Portugal. These plants will total 4.5 MW capacity with an investment of around €4.3 million. They will supply nearby pumping stations with an estimated annual production of 7 GWh. Portuguese researchers aim to surpass the 7 GW floating solar capacity target set in the National Energy and Climate Plan 2030.
