Protest outside Constitutional Court of Serbia against Rio Tinto’s lithium project Jadar

Local group Ne damo Jadar and the Association of Environmental Organizations of Serbia (SEOS) organized a protest rally against Rio Tinto's lithium mine project. Despite mass protests, the Government of Serbia canceled the Jadar project in January 2022. Protests continued, with activists blocking streets and pushing for permanent ban on lithium and boron exploration and mining in Serbia. President Vučić accused western intelligence agencies of being behind the project's annulment in 2022.
