A group of researchers at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden has developed a hybrid polycrystalline solar cell with a molecular solar thermal (MOST) energy storage system. The MOST unit acts as an optical filter and cooling agent for the PV cell, converting high-energy photons into chemical energy. The study achieved higher efficiency with the NBD3 molecule and demonstrated improved power output consistency across varying periods.
