Renewable energy benefits surpass estimates, says Berkeley Lab

Researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory developed a new methodology for estimating climate and air quality benefits from wind and solar generation. Wind and solar provided $249 billion of health benefits over 2019-2022. The methodology breaks the US into 10 regions where wind or solar supplied 3% of electricity demand. Generation offsets and social costs led to $62.4 billion from wind and $11.6 billion from solar in health benefits in 2022.
