Scientists claim PV systems combined with thermoelectric cooling may achieve 6-year payback time

A group of researchers from South Africa's Central University of Technology has designed a solar module integrating a cooling system relying on a thermoelectric cooler (TEC). The PV-TEC system proposed in the study entails a PV panel integrated with a TEC device on its reverse side. A numerical simulation was conducted to assess the system's performance under different weather conditions, highlighting improvements in power output and energy efficiency through optimal thermal control.
