The Ministry of Environmental Protection in Serbia has prevented the construction of a wind farm on Mount Bukovik, which is a significant decision as it's the first case in Serbia where such a project has been effectively prohibited. The decision was announced by the local environmental organization Sokobanja Ecological Society. The construction of the wind power plant would have led to environmental issues such as deforestation, erosion, and changes in the microclimate. The beech forests in the area are home to many protected species, including lynx. Srbijašume has issued design conditions that restrict the investor's options for the project. The investor, Vetroenergo, is owned by Wind Alliance from Belgrade, which is majority owned by Cyprus-registered Comay Co Limited.
