Serbia’s EPS posts Q1 profit of EUR 241.6 million but investments lag

Elektroprivreda Srbije, a state-owned utility company in Serbia, reported a profit of RSD 28.3 billion (EUR 241.6 million) for the first quarter of 2024, which is two times higher than planned. The company achieved stable results in electricity and coal production, with overburden production increasing by 11%. However, investments need to be accelerated to address challenges such as lower incomes, lower water levels affecting hydropower plants, and ongoing power plant overhauls.
