Serbian police charge local activists for resisting revival of Rio Tinto’s lithium project

Seven people were arrested in Loznica, Serbia, at a protest against Rio Tinto's lithium mine project. Two Ne damo Jadar leaders and five activists were released. Zlatko Kokanović and Nebojša Petković face criminal charges. Police claim four officers were injured. Rio Tinto's Jadar project was scrapped amidst protests. Ne damo Jadar blocked the railway. Environmentalists await a Supreme Court ruling to reinstate the spatial plan.
