Sweden’s Ministry of Finance plans to lower the subsidy rate for solar installations to 15% and scrap the tax reduction for micro-production of renewable electricity. The proposals aim to transition solar power towards market-based foundations. Svensk Solenergi, Sweden’s main solar industry association, criticized the proposals, emphasizing the importance of support systems for accelerating electrification. The income tax reduction for micro-produced renewable energy, introduced in 2015, has aided in increasing local electricity production. Sweden has experienced a slowdown in the solar market after a record deployment in 2023.
