The effects of wind on single-axis PV trackers

A group of researchers from South Africa conducted a full-scale field measurement of wind load effects on the mounting rail of a PV single-axis tracker in the Western Cape province. They compared actual results to ASCE 7-22 estimations. The study focused on omega-type cold-formed steel mounting rail connected to a torque tube with wind loading considerations governing the structural design of large PV installations.
