US DOE backs US$72.8 million loan for solar, LDES microgrid on Tribal lands in California

The US Department of Energy (DOE) will guarantee a loan for a solar PV and energy storage project on Tribal Lands in California. The project involves Native American-owned developer Indian Energy and Viejas Group. Funding includes a grant from California Energy Commission and investments from US Bancorp Impact Finance and Starbucks. California senator Alex Padilla supports the project for energy independence and security. The project features a vanadium radox flow battery (VRFB) from Invinity and zinc batteries from Eos Energy Enterprises.
