Scientists from NTNU and SINTEF researched the impact of icephobic nanomaterial coatings in PV systems at high latitudes, finding reduced snow and ice accumulation. The effectiveness of these coatings was found to be 65% in Oslo, 60% in Trondheim, and 45% in Bergen. The study highlighted the potential for increased energy production depending on climate conditions and the need for further experimental data integration.
