The region of Flanders, Belgium, saw a slower uptake in solar deployment in 2024 compared to the previous years. In 2023, a record-breaking 1,147 MW was installed, while in 2022, 666 MW was deployed. Wannes Demarcke, a policy analyst for ODE Vlaanderen, highlighted delays in updating installation figures due to changes in subsidy regime and market decline driven by lower prices. Flanders holds the largest regional share of installed solar capacity in Belgium, contributing to the country's cumulative installed solar capacity surpassing 10 GW by the end of last year.
