The European Commission has approved Belgium’s state aid mechanism for the Princess Elisabeth Zone wind farm project. By 2030, North Sea wind farms will provide electricity for every Belgian household. The project aims to triple offshore wind capacity, leading to 100% green electricity by 2030. The Princess Elisabeth Energy Island will connect offshore wind farms and serve as a landing point for interconnectors, enhancing cross-border energy cooperation. The auction criteria focus on green electricity for all households, sustainability, investment security, and price stability.
