Sintef and Svalin Solar are developing a floating CPVT receiver for use in carbon capture facilities. The system reduces reboiler duty by utilizing solar energy for gas separation. It features a single-axis tracking system with concentration ratios of around 10 suns. The CPVT receiver uses high-efficiency PV cells with efficient thermal management through heat transfer fluid. The electric power produced can be used for the CCS process. Sintef plans to set up a pilot facility in 2024 to test the plant design.
