Researchers from the Renewable Energies Chair at the University of Évora in Portugal conducted a study on floating photovoltaic systems in Portugal. They concluded that the installed capacity could surpass the national goal of 7 GW set in the National Energy and Climate Plan 2030. The region of Alentejo was identified as having the greatest potential due to its combination of water surfaces and solar resources. The study indicates that even with an 85% reduction in available water surface, the national capacity could still reach 10.8 GW.
