Renewables cover 82% of Portugal's power demand in H1 2024

Portugal's renewable energy plants have met 82% of the nation's power needs during the first half of 2024. Hydropower plants were at the top of the contribution list with a share of 39%, followed by wind parks with 28%, solar photovoltaic (PV) plants with 9%, and biomass with 6%. Electricity consumption grew by 1.6% in the first six months. Renewables production met 57% of Portuguese consumption in June, while non-renewable production supplied 4%.
