A group of Belgian companies and research entities are reusing silicon from end-of-life solar panels for composite silicon carbon anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. The Resiliex project, funded by the EU, aims to demonstrate innovative solutions for carbon-free silicon production, with two research groups involved. Researchers highlight the potential of Si/C powders derived from recycled silicon to enhance battery performance, particularly for electric vehicles. The project includes assessments on environmental impacts and recycling methods for new silicon solutions.
