Solar, wind covered Belgium’s entire electricity demand for the first time

Belgium's high-voltage transmission system operator Elia set a new record on May 29 by generating enough solar and wind electricity to cover the country's entire demand. Solar and wind produced 8,303 MW, with solar contributing around 5,500 MW. Elia emphasized the need for a new market model to support flexible consumption and encourage the use of cheap, green electricity.
